"The Way Ahead"

Draft version - Last updated Sunday, April 6, 2008 10:40 PM

A discussion document about improving public open access to Stonehenge at Summer Solstice currently being drafted by The Stonehenge Peace Group.

Our proposal involves three improvements to English Heritage's (EH's) current Managed Open Access (MOA) plan.

1. TIME. The first involves increasing the overall TIME that EH have allocated for free Solstice Day Access.

2. PARKING. The second involves relocating Solstice PARKING from the "Guinness" field to the "overspill" car park behind the permanent EH car park.

3. ROAD. The third involves, for the duration of the Solstice Access, closing the A344 ROAD from the car park eastbound to the A303 and leaving the A344 open from the car park westbound to Airman's Cross. This allows access to Larkhill Lane, the EH permanent car park and the "over spill" car park behind it with no direct access to the A303 via the A344 eastbound.
